OVER 18? Yes
CHARACTERS IN-GAME: Aiko "Torako" Torasawa, Valmont
▶ CHARACTER
NAME: Giovanni Potage
CANON: Epithet Erased
CANON POINT: Post-episode 4
AGE: 19
BACKGROUND: Wiki link!
PERSONALITY:
Giovanni's power is soup.
Let me put that in a little bit of context. In his world, one out of five people are born with an epithet, a single word that provides them with supernatural powers and dictates the form those powers take. Some of the epithets held by other characters include: Goldbricker, which can turn part of the user's body or anything they touch into gold and back; Sundial, which can speed up or reverse the lifespan of any creature or object; and Drowsy, which causes the world to operate on the logic of dreams, including summoning its target's worst nightmares. Giovanni's epithet... is Soup.
So when life gives you Soup, what do you do? Become a chef? Maybe volunteer at a soup kitchen? Not if you're Giovanni Potage, who instead enrolls in notorious criminal group the Banzai Blasters in the hopes of one day becoming the greatest villain of all time. Which gives you an indication of his priorities in life.
Giovanni's personality can be summarized as follows:
His closest relationship, though, is with Molly (alias Bear Trap), who starts out as his hostage during the museum heist but is quickly promoted to minion once the rest of his underlings are taken out of commission by another set of thieves. As they get to know each other, Giovanni is both impressed by Molly's sharp mind and disturbed by her lack of confidence. They make an unusually balanced team: he buoys up her self-esteem, and she gently dissuades him from some of his more ridiculous ideas. By the end of the night, they're working together to take down the other thieves in a tandem move that plays to both their strengths. (Giovanni: "Now that's what I call a Bear Trap!")
POWERS/ABILITIES: Giovanni's epithet, Soup, lends itself to a surprising number of applications both offensive, defensive, and delicious. See his wiki page for a comprehensive list. He also has the unrelated ability to deal a critical hit with every 13th attack, and is pretty good at baseball and knitting.
INVENTORY:
- Arsene Amulet
- Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction (bat with a knife taped to it)
- Standard-issue Banzai Blaster peashooter
- Pair of knitting needles
MOONBLESSING: Sanguis

Giovanni's personality can be summarized as follows:
▶ DRAMATIC. If this were an anime, Giovanni would be what they call a chuunibyou. It's not, so he's just a guy who gives needlessly dramatic names to all his abilities. Cup of healing soup? No, it's an Ancient Potion! Obscuring steam? I think you mean the Fog of Lost Souls. And don't forget the Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction, which is just a regular bat with a knife taped to it. He tries to make himself seem like a cool guy at every opportunity, often by doing things that others might consider less than cool (e.g. kicking a potted plant with the intent to shatter it, which incidentally harms his foot far more than it does the plant). He and his underlings also have a habit of posing dramatically for no particular reason, though that might just be a Banzai Blaster thing.Giovanni maintains a personal friendship with each of his minions, having bestowed upon each of them a fittingly villainous nickname (except Ben, who hasn't earned one yet - hey, sometimes being a good bad guy boss means tough love). At least some of them are close enough to Giovanni to spend time with him outside of villain hours, such as Car Crash, who's willing to give Giovanni a ride when his mother refuses to let him use their car. (Giovanni's relationship with his mother is a turbulent one: he lives in her basement and she's apparently okay with his criminal career, but their canon conversations consist entirely of bickering, and Giovanni disapproves of the amount of drinking that goes on at her "yoga nights".)
▶ CHILDISH. Giovanni sleeps in a race car bed. He chose to steal artifacts from the Sweet Jazz Museum for no reason other than that they seemed cool, and partly out of a desire to acquire cursed swords to throw at girls. If he doesn't like you, prepare for the most petty of playground insults to be thrown your way. He doesn't understand how to do taxes.
▶ LOYAL. Giovanni's most strongly held belief is that a villain is nothing without their minions, and as such, he is unfailingly loyal to every one of his "boys". He treats them all with kindness and respect, believing that anyone who does otherwise is unworthy to call themself a villain. When he learns that this philosophy is not shared by the higher-ups in his organization, he chooses to quit his beloved Banzai Blasters rather than sacrifice his principles.
▶ SENSITIVE. Despite all his cool-guy posturing, Giovanni has a not-so-secret sensitive side. He's a prolific knitter and wears nail polish under his standard-issue gloves. He openly cries when his minions are defeated, and when someone threatens his newest, youngest minion, Molly, he drops everything to hug and comfort her. Most damningly, it takes very little pushing for him to admit that he is, in Molly's words, secretly nice. (He does, however, hide this un-villainly trait from the other Banzai Blasters, on the grounds that "they wouldn't get it".)
